Metatissue celebrates success at the biomaterials world congress 2024
From May 27 to 31, 2024, Metatissue was present at the prestigious World Biomaterials Congress (WBC) in Daegu, South Korea. At Stand 27, our team welcomed visitors eager to learn about our innovations in biomaterials and discuss advances in biotechnology. During the event, Metatissue’s co-founders, Professor João F. Mano and Catarina Custódio, took to the stage to share our vision for transforming the biomaterials sector.
One of the highlights of the event took place on May 30, when Professor João F. Mano presented a plenary session entitled “The Human Body as a Source of Biomaterials”. This impactful presentation explored the opportunities and challenges of using biomaterials derived from the human body, earning Professor Mano special recognition from WBC President Ki Dong Park.
On May 29, Catarina Custódio gave another outstanding presentation, “Revolutionizing Drug Screening: Harnessing Human Protein-Based Materials for Ethical and Accelerated In Vitro Testing”, which emphasized the importance of ethical methods in biomedical research, sparking considerable interest and debate among the participants.
Alongside these plenary sessions, Metatissue organized a special raffle for a cruelty-free LEGO set at Stand 27, where visitors had the opportunity to interact directly with our team and explore our innovations in biomaterials in depth. The week was enriched by meaningful exchanges with experts and the opportunity to strengthen collaborations, especially with our partners in the InterLynk-H2020 project, reinforcing our commitment to advancing research and innovation in biomaterials.
