FDA Modernization Act to end animal testing

Did you know that, in the US alone, more than 111 million mice and rats are used annually in biomedical research? In the UK, 1.7 million animals are used in experimental processes. When we look at Europe, 8.9 million animals are used in scientific, medical, and veterinary research.

In order to reduce these overwhelming numbers, last year members of the European Parliament voted strongly in favor of an EU action plan to end the use of animals in research and testing. Also, this year, on 29 September 2022, the U.S. Senate passed the FDA Modernization Act 2.0, S.5002, which allows new drugs to be tested on human-relevant platforms to replace animal experiments.

This new regulation will foster significant advances in the development of new drugs as well as reduce the suffering applied to animals!

We are aware that science needs more realistic platforms that can mimic the human environment and that are easy to manipulate, and Metatissue is aware that its products are the key to a future free from animal components, with more effective results!
